Topsy's Top Tip

This is Topsy who has feline hyperthyroidism.

This is a condition where her thyroid gland in her neck becomes over active and causes weight loss, excessive drinking and can make cats very hungry but fairly ill thrifty.

Feline hyperthyroidism can be managed or treated in several ways but Topsy has to receive a tablet once a day, every day.

Topsy's owners have had previous experience with this condition and used to struggle and battle to medicate Topsy's brother Turvey. However, Topsy is rather fond of Dairylea Triangle Cheese... although we wouldn't normally recommend feeding cheese to cats... this seems to be the secret to medicating Topsy successfully so in special circumstances we can perhaps allow it.

We can happily report that Topsy is currently doing very well and her thyroid gland is very stable at present.
