After training with us as an undergraduate and over 6 years working with us, one of our vets is looking for a new venture in the world of veterinary academia. We therefore have an exciting opportunity for an experienced vet who shares our passion for patient care and enjoys the benefits of providing all of this under one roof in our 24 hour hospital in the “outdoor city” of Sheffield, close to the Peak District.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and committed individual to join our close knit, dedicated team. We are a busy first opinion, fully equipped small animal veterinary hospital that provides its own 24hr emergency care, giving you the opportunity to see your cases progress. We have an experienced team with peripatetic orthopaedic surgeons and a cardiologist, along with an experienced team of 8 Veterinary Surgeons, 6 Nurses, 3 Student Nurses, 4 Receptionists, placement nurses and office team.

In a typical FTE working week the day shifts average 36- 37.5 hours covering the main hospital and a branch site in beautiful Hathersage (the inspiration for ‘Morton’ in Jane Eyre). This role covers both day shifts (8- 9 ½ hr shifts with paid ½ hr lunch) with participation in the on call rota including weekdays and weekends (worked from home with nurse on site) on a flexible shift basis.

Part-time position, including on call rota participation also considered.

Locum Veterinary Surgeon position

While we find our new team member we have locum work available.

We would like someone who is happy with some sole charge in our branch or at the start/ end of our working day. Happy with consults and operations and even better (but not essential) if you like the excitement of helping to cover our 24 hour on site emergency service. Our on call service for the vet team is a work from home overnight service for the vets and we usually really quiet with a fantastic team of nurses on site for inpatients. Full time or part time availability considered. Accommodation can be provided if needed.
